One of our regular family spots on the Treasure Coast is Manero’s in Palm City. We eat there with my mom at least once a month, and honestly, if you know us, you already know the order: prime rib and the chopped salad with blackened chicken.

Manero’s has that classic old-school steakhouse feel that’s hard to find anymore, where the food is consistently good and nobody’s trying too hard to be trendy. They’ve actually been around for decades and are well known for their prime rib and famous Gorgonzola salad for a reason.

The portions are big, the garlic bread should probably come with a warning label, and it’s just one of those comfortable local places that always feels familiar when you walk in.

In a world where restaurants come and go constantly, I love places like this that have become part of people’s routines and family dinners for years. If you’re in Palm City and looking for a solid local favorite, Manero’s is definitely one of ours.

🚒 Stuart and Martin County improve fire response

The Gist: Stuart and Martin County fire rescue departments updated their agreement on May 15 to allow the closest available unit to respond to all emergency calls, regardless of jurisdiction. The change expands a system previously used mainly for the most critical situations and removes reimbursement payments between agencies.

Why It Matters: For residents, it’s all about shaving down those critical minutes when help is on the way. Even a small improvement in response time can make a real difference in emergencies, especially across neighborhoods that sit right along city and county lines.

🏥 Cleveland Clinic Indian River earns top safety grade

The Gist: Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach earned an “A” in The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2026 hospital safety grades, an improvement hospital leaders say reflects work on safety, quality, and patient experience. Nearby results were mixed: Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital held steady at a “B,” while HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce slipped from a “B” to a “C.”

Why It Matters: Hospital safety grades can help families ask better questions when choosing where to go for care, especially for big decisions like surgery or maternity services. For Treasure Coast residents, Cleveland Clinic Indian River’s improved grade is a positive sign for local healthcare, while the mixed results nearby are a reminder to look at more than one source when making care decisions.

🍤 Dockside seafood and river breezes

1660 Indian River Dr, Sebastian

Squid Lips makes it easy to settle in for a long waterfront lunch. Between the river views, seabirds overhead, and the occasional dolphin sighting, the atmosphere does half the work before the food even arrives.

The grouper sandwich stands out with its thick, flaky filet, while the fried shrimp, fish and chips, and crunchy fish appetizers keep things relaxed and satisfying. Friendly, attentive service and an easy dockside vibe make this a spot people return to again and again.
