Beach House Ice Cream has become one of our favorite local stops whenever we're craving something sweet. This family-owned shop makes all of its ice cream in-house, and the quality really shows with every scoop. The toughest decision is always which flavor to choose because there are so many delicious options. The only downside? It's a little too close to our house, making it way too easy to stop in "just because!"
Conveniently located off US-1, just south of Cove Road in Stuart, it's an easy stop whether you're running errands or exploring the area. Supporting local businesses like this is one of the many things we love about living on the Treasure Coast. If you haven't been yet, Beach House Ice Cream is absolutely worth the trip.
🚔 PSLPD opens new training facility
The Gist: Port St. Lucie Police recently unveiled a new 54,283-square-foot training facility built for everything from classroom lessons and defensive tactics to simulated emergencies. The secure, three-story center includes an indoor firing range, a customizable tactical training area and virtual-reality tools for practicing decision-making and de-escalation.
Why It Matters: Most neighbors will never step inside, but the training done there could matter during the moments when officers have to think quickly. Bringing realistic scenarios, updated technology and multiple types of instruction under one roof gives the department a dedicated place to prepare as Port St. Lucie continues growing.
🥪 Martin County takes aim at world record
The Gist: House of Hope and Old Havana Cafe will attempt to build the world’s longest Cuban sandwich on Sept. 12 at Justin Wilson Memorial Park in Palm City. The 400-foot sandwich would break the current 365-foot record while raising money to fight hunger in Martin County.
Why It Matters: Come for the giant Cuban sandwich, stay for the chance to support a good cause. The record attempt will bring the community together while raising money for House of Hope’s work helping local families.

Café In Havana covers just about every Cuban craving, from pressed sandwiches and strong coffee to slow-braised ropa vieja, picadillo and roasted pork. Breakfast runs well beyond pastries too, with hearty plates like Havana Eggs and the Cuban Heavy, topped with steak, fried eggs and caramelized onions.
Stop in early for café con leche and a full breakfast, or come back later for a Cuban sandwich, sweet plantains and one of the daily specials. It’s casual, family-friendly and an easy choice when everyone wants something filling.
