Who knew Costco fills pet prescriptions?!

I have to admit something… I had no idea Costco even had a pharmacy, let alone one that fills pet medications. And considering the Stuart Costco has only been open for just over a year, it somehow never crossed my mind. My sister-in-law, Liane, was actually the one who told me about it, so thank you, Liane, because you may have just saved me a small fortune.

If you’re a dog owner, you know the pain of buying Heartgard at the vet. I absolutely dread it because every time I go, I feel like I’m taking out a small loan just to protect my dogs from heartworm. Well, imagine my shock when I found out Costco carries the generic version (who even knew there was a generic version?!). I just filled a 6-month supply for my dogs: $20.76 for under 20 lbs and $26.76 for 20–50 lbs.

The last time I bought heartworm medication at my vet, it was close to $300 for two dogs… and now I have a third! Let’s just say I walked out of Costco feeling like I had uncovered some secret life hack. If you’ve been procrastinating buying pet meds because of the cost, this might be worth checking out. And yes… the newest little one is pretty darn cute, isn’t she? 🙂

The Gist: St. Lucie County libraries will launch their summer reading challenge June 8 through July 28 with the theme “Discover Stories Through Time.” Readers of all ages can log reading activity to earn books, attraction passes, and entries for prizes including tablets, headphones, STEM kits, and more.

Why It Matters: Summer reading programs help kids stay engaged when school is out, but this one gives the whole family a reason to join in. It’s a simple way to keep young minds active while exploring some of our favorite local attractions along the way.

The Gist: The Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency approved four new mural projects for fiscal year 2026, awarding about $61,000 to Florida artists. New large-scale works will be added to DreamChaser Preschool, Elks Lodge #1520, Mervis Cafe & Grill, and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy, with painting expected to begin in June.

Why It Matters: Public art helps turn everyday buildings into local landmarks. As the mural program expands beyond downtown and the Peacock Arts District, more neighborhoods will get colorful pieces that reflect the character and creativity of our community.

Inside Marsh Landing Restaurant, dinner comes with a side of local history, vintage Florida charm, and a menu that keeps people talking long after the drive home. The kitchen turns out hearty Southern favorites alongside gator tail, frog legs, fried green tomatoes, and rich chicken pot pie.

Historic photos and wildlife décor give the dining room its own unmistakable character, while the welcoming staff make the whole experience easy to settle into and enjoy.

Sweet Tea Treasures blends coastal farmhouse furniture, handmade décor, and creative workshops into a space people happily wander through more than once. Mango wood pieces, local art, jewelry, and seasonal decorations fill every corner, with layouts that spark ideas for entire rooms.

Visitors also rave about the hands-on classes, from stained glass to chunky knit projects, which turn casual shopping trips into full afternoons of creativity, conversation, tea, and discovering something new to take home.
